Today was the day I decided to remount the flaps. Back last summer while setting the wing sweep and incidence I discovered Vans had sent me RV-8 flaps for an RV-7. After much wrangling (about trimming the skin blah blah) I got a Vans support guy on the phone. We measured their length and boo-yeah.... wrong flaps. Anyway they sent me new ones. The 8 flaps were kind of boogered up to be honest from me trying to get them to fit. ... (sorry Vans..)

My chief aircraf order arrived. I also found a way to drill in the aft tunnel for a snap bushing. One came drilled from the factory on the QB but I absolutely had to have to other because of the Auto Pilot harness and lighting.
Spent the better part of the day riveting the left bottom wing skin on. It was slow going and the rivet order is very specific. We had to start in the upper left corner (as you face the wing) and rivet in an "L" pattern working back towards the wing tip. It was the first really big riveting since the HS.
Today was an awesome day in the shop. My Bro. Wade flew in from Phoenix for 3 days to hang out and help in the Shop. The wing conduit from Van's arrived within 5 minutes (I do mean 5 minutes) of needing it in the shop (did I mention 5 minutes?) We pulled the conduit through the left wing, RTV'd the Pitot tubing and the conduit. Next we hung the Left wing skin and match drilled. Then took it off and dimpled ribs and skin. Finally we started riveting it on! Whoo Hooo!
Today I decided to finish the knock out punches and then installed the SB750-10 snap bushings. After that I went to work on the pitot tube, which I had been putting off. After a bit more reading I jumped in and drilled the bracket, primed it and cut the matching exit hole in the left wing skin (not shown). A very productive day.
I spent some time studying the plans this morning. Necessary so I can keep parts flowing in and remain busy on the project at the same time. After that I began punching out the 3/4 holes in the wing ribs for the Nav lights and s landing light wiring which is coming up very soon.
Today I spent time with the aileron flap braces. There was some fabrication involed as well as the usual edge deburring work. Also the aileron push rod assemblies and the belcranks.

Today was Lowe's day. I bought lumber to build the wing stand and some saw horses. The QB kit will be arriving right after Thanksgiving. See photos and Video of my progress.
